The Hindu Deva Ganesh represents the power of the Supreme Being that removes obstacles and ensures success in human endeavors. He is considered a patron of arts and sciences. Hindus call on Ganesha at the beginning of any spiritual or worldly activity. He is considered a master of wisdom and knowledge and guardian of beauty, grace, prosperity and compassion.
It was interesting how this painting came about. I had played around with some fun painting experiments in Rohrschach style, which gave me a perfectly symmetric pattern of colors and shapes. Then I saw a big golden crown and the shapes sort of resembled a sitting elephant figure - and a bit more paint and quite a bit more refinement, and there he is!
